20 COVID-19 Cases Reported in Gyeongnam Province... 'Urgent Call for Active Vaccination' (Comprehensive)
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Gyeongsangnam-do announced on the 23rd at 1:30 PM that 20 new confirmed cases occurred since 5 PM the previous day.
By region, there are 15 cases in Jinju, 2 in Geoje, and 1 each in Changwon, Sacheon, and Tongyeong.
Seven of the Jinju confirmed cases are related to the Jinju bathhouse cluster and have been classified as cases 2736 to 2742. This brings the total number of confirmed cases related to the Jinju bathhouse cluster to 223.
Four individuals who had contact with confirmed cases in the province tested positive and were classified as cases 2735 and 2743 to 2745.
Three people who voluntarily requested testing tested positive and were classified as cases 2746 to 2748. Their infection routes are under investigation.
The remaining one person tested positive through a proactive screening of bathhouse workers conducted by Gyeongsangnam-do and was classified as case 2749. It was confirmed that the bathhouse business had not operated since the 13th due to an administrative order issued by Jinju city prohibiting gatherings at bathhouse businesses.
The two Geoje confirmed cases and one Tongyeong confirmed case are related to Geoje entertainment establishments and companies, classified as cases 2730, 2732, and 2733.
Epidemiological investigations confirmed that some workers at the Geoje shipyard visited entertainment establishments.
Health authorities have determined that the existing Geoje entertainment establishment cluster and the shipyard cluster are related and plan to manage the two clusters as one group.
As a result, including the existing 64 confirmed cases related to entertainment establishments and 83 others classified separately, the total number of confirmed cases related to Geoje entertainment establishments and companies has increased to 147.
So far, a total of 9,700 people related to the shipyard have been tested, with 69 positive and 8,230 negative results. The remaining 1,401 tests are still in progress.
The one confirmed case in Changwon and one in Sacheon both tested positive after contact with confirmed cases in the province and were classified as cases 2731 and 2734.
Accordingly, the total cumulative confirmed cases in the province have increased to 2,746 (463 hospitalized, 2,271 discharged, 12 deceased).

Meanwhile, Shin Jong-woo, Director of the Welfare and Health Bureau of Gyeongsangnam-do, emphasized that "Israel, which has the world's highest vaccination rate, has seen a sharp decrease in new confirmed cases after vaccination and is easing lockdown measures," urging active participation in vaccination.
