Hyosung, a Beautiful Journey with Jamsil Creative Studio Artists
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Hyosung is carrying out social contributions to create a barrier-free society by supporting disabled artists and rehabilitation for disabled children.
On the 23rd, Hyosung announced that it had delivered sponsorship funds for resident artists at the Jamsil Creative Studio of the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture. The Jamsil Creative Studio is the only creative space in South Korea for visually impaired artists, sponsored by Hyosung since 2018. Hyosung's sponsorship funds are used annually for purchasing materials for works, exhibition costs, and archive production for 12 disabled artists selected through a public contest.
This year, marking the fourth year of sponsorship, the 'Artist of the Year Award with Hyosung' was selected by citizens and Hyosung employees. The 'Artist of the Year Award' was given to artist Han Seung-min (27 years old, Level 2 Autism Spectrum Disorder). As a Western painting artist, he is working on translating his daily experiences into images and participates in various domestic and international art competitions and art fairs. He is a young artist demonstrating high skill, with works even collected by the Government Art Bank of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art.
Last December, Hyosung was recognized for its collaboration with the Jamsil Creative Studio and was selected as an 'Excellent Public-Private Cooperation Institution of 2020' by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, receiving a commendation from the Mayor of Seoul.

Additionally, on the 30th, Hyosung will deliver 115 million KRW in support funds to the Purme Foundation, which supports rehabilitation and independence for people with disabilities, for the 'Medical Rehabilitation and Family Support Project for Disabled Children.' This project is now in its ninth year and is used for rehabilitation treatment of low-income disabled children and adolescents, education and psychological therapy for non-disabled siblings, family trips with Hyosung employees' families, small family-invited concerts, and overall rehabilitation treatment.
