Kwon Young-se "Seoul Mayor Opposition Unified Candidate Must Be One Feared by the Democratic Party"
"Stop Thinking It Doesn't Matter Who Wins"
"An Election That Determines the Party's Fate"
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Kwon Young-se, Chairman of the People Power Party's Seoul Mayor By-election Campaign Committee, stated on the 21st regarding the unification of opposition candidates, "Let's abandon the idea of 'it doesn't matter who wins,'" and asserted, "Unifying behind Oh Se-hoon is the true starting point for judging the current regime and regime change, and it is a victory for the entire opposition."
In a statement released that day, Chairman Kwon emphasized, "We need a 'competent unified candidate' who truly understands Seoul," and added, "We must provide Seoul citizens with reassurance that 'the incompetent regime has been properly judged' and 'the opposition party can be entrusted with power.'
He said, "We need a unified candidate whom the Democratic Party fears," and stressed, "The Democratic Party will have to choose a candidate obsessed with slander and sabotage." Chairman Kwon insisted, "There must never be a case where we pick a candidate who seems to have a 'real knockout punch' but ends up suffering a setback."
He continued, "We urgently need a candidate who can not only avoid dividing the opposition but also strengthen it, and who can instill pride in the main opposition party."
He also emphasized that the People Power Party must become more desperate.
