From April to October, providing seeds and seedlings to participating groups such as elementary school organizations, and cultivating and harvesting eco-friendly crops through training dedicated garden instructors
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Seoul City announced on the 19th that it will operate a garden where children can directly cultivate and regularly harvest eco-friendly crops such as lettuce and radish to welcome spring. The healing garden, where eco-friendly crop cultivation can be experienced in the city, is located at the Healing Agriculture Center in Sangil-dong, Gangdong-gu.
The garden consists of a total of 20 plots (each plot 27㎡), and 20 groups will be selected to be assigned one plot per group. Each group can have around 40 participants, and the program runs from April 22 to October.
Participation is free of charge. Selected groups will be provided with two types of seeds and seedlings each, and can participate in 2 to 3 vegetable cultivation experience programs led by a dedicated garden instructor during the period. The healing garden is available on weekdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Only groups such as kindergartens located in Seoul can apply. Applications open at 11 a.m. on the 22nd via the reservation menu on the Seoul Agricultural Technology Center website, and applicants must send the garden participation application form by email. The participation application form can be downloaded from the center’s website.
Cho Sang-tae, Director of the Seoul Agricultural Technology Center, said, "We have operated the eco-friendly healing garden so that children growing up in the city can have opportunities for agricultural experience and emotional healing through garden activities," adding, "We hope this will be a great opportunity for many children to feel familiar with our agriculture and experience the importance of nature."
