From Boseong to Seoul in 2 Hours 30 Minutes, Busan in 2 Hours Era Opens
Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Holds Environmental Impact Assessment Public Briefing for Boseong Residents
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Cheon-seok] Boseong County announced that the 'Gwangju~Boseong~Suncheon Single-Track Railway Project Strategic Environmental Impact Assessment (Draft) Resident Briefing Session' promoted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport was held on the 16th at the Boseong County Office large conference room.
The Gyeongjeon Line Gwangju Songjeong~Boseong~Suncheon single-track electrification project is a large-scale national project with a total length of 94.2 km and an investment of 2 trillion won. The detailed design is scheduled to be completed by 2023, with construction starting in 2024.
Once the Gyeongjeon Line electrification project, running at a speed of 250 km/h, is completed, the Seoul~Boseong trip will take 2 hours and 30 minutes, and the Busan~Boseong trip will take only 2 hours, completing the half-day living zone nationwide for Boseong County.
The resident briefing session was attended by about 50 people, including Boseong residents, Kim Cheol-woo, the governor of Boseong County, Kim Jae-cheol, chairman of the Boseong County Council, and officials from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
At this briefing, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport explained the impact of the Gwangju~Boseong~Suncheon single-track railway project on the surrounding natural scenery, living environment, and socio-economic conditions, and shared with residents measures to reduce inconveniences such as vibration and noise.
Kim Cheol-woo, governor of Boseong County, said, “We will spare no administrative support for the prompt promotion of the Gwangju~Boseong~Suncheon Gyeongjeon Line electrification project.” He added, “I hope that a plan to minimize environmental impact will be established to prevent residents from suffering damage caused by noise and vibration from the railway.”

The strategic environmental impact assessment (draft) can be viewed at the Boseong County Office Environmental Ecology Division until the 2nd of next month, and the announcement can be checked through the Boseong County website.
