[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dong-hyun] The Nigeria-origin COVID-19 variant has been detected for the first time in China.
On the 15th, according to the state-run Global Times, the Guangdong Province Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced that two overseas arrivals tested positive for the Nigeria-origin variant virus.
The two individuals were classified as asymptomatic carriers on the 21st and 22nd of last month, respectively, and were isolated in hospitals under medical observation.
Through analysis of their nucleic acid test data, the Guangdong CDC confirmed that the infectious agent was the variant virus first identified in Nigeria.
