View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] Jung Ho-young, President of LG Display, has been inaugurated as the 8th Chairman of the Korea Display Industry Association (KDIA).
The Display Industry Association held its 2021 regular general meeting in a non-face-to-face format and announced on the 15th that the agenda to appoint President Jung as the 8th chairman and the 2021 business promotion plan were resolved in writing.
In his inaugural address sent to the association's member companies on the same day, the new Chairman Jung said, "I feel a heavy responsibility representing the association that serves as the focal point for the entire display industry," adding, "I will do my best based on mutual trust and cooperation among all member companies." He also stated, "The Korean display industry is facing various challenges while new opportunities and possibilities are opening up," and added, "Amid these crises and opportunities, we must lead changes in the market and technology and strengthen global leadership by prioritizing 'next-generation technological innovation.'"
The Display Industry Association plans to firmly establish an industrial ecosystem involving the government, industry, academia, and research institutes with Chairman Jung's inauguration and focus its capabilities on the association's four major mid- to long-term development tasks. The four major mid- to long-term development tasks are ▲ strengthening the technological capabilities and promoting localization of material, parts, and equipment companies ▲ nurturing professional manpower and protecting core talents and technologies ▲ accelerating the realization of green displays to achieve carbon neutrality ▲ expanding industrial horizons through collaboration with other industries.

Chairman Jung emphasized, "The Korean display industry has contributed to the national economy as a representative IT infrastructure industry and export industry for over 20 years, and it is a field with tremendous future growth potential," adding, "The future role and status enhancement of the display industry depend on all member companies."
