Ministry of Health and Welfare "Recruiting Public Health Scholarship Students for Public Medical Work Until the 31st"
[Asia Economy Reporter Seo So-jeong] The Ministry of Health and Welfare (Minister Kwon Deok-cheol) will begin recruiting public health scholarship students who are dedicated to working in public healthcare starting from the 15th.
This year, in addition to medical students (graduate medical school students), nursing students will also be selected as public health scholarship recipients. The selection scale is 11 medical students and 20 nursing students.
Any medical or nursing student currently enrolled nationwide can apply, and the application period is from the 15th to the 31st of this month.
The metropolitan local governments selecting scholarship students this year include seven regions for medical students: Gyeonggi, Gangwon, Chungbuk, Chungnam, Gyeongbuk, Gyeongnam, and Jeonbuk; and eight regions for nursing students: Busan, Gyeonggi, Gangwon, Chungbuk, Chungnam, Gyeongbuk, Jeonbuk, and Jeonnam.
Students wishing to be selected as scholarship recipients should choose one of the local governments selecting students this year and submit the public health scholarship application form, study plan, academic transcript, and high school graduation certificate to their school administration office.
If the applicant graduated from a high school in the region where they wish to work and is expected to graduate from a university in the same region, an additional 10 points will be awarded.
Selected scholarship students will receive an annual scholarship of 20.4 million KRW for medical students and 16.4 million KRW for nursing students. After graduation, scholarship recipients are required to work at public hospitals such as local medical centers for the duration equivalent to the scholarship period.
