Seoul Reports 140 New COVID-19 Cases... Highest Since Last Month's 23rd
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The number of new COVID-19 cases in Seoul increased by 140 as of midnight on the 12th compared to the previous day. This is the highest level since the 23rd of last month.
According to Seoul City on the 12th, the number of new COVID-19 cases on the previous day was counted at 140. As a result, the cumulative number of confirmed cases rose to 29,697. The death toll increased by one, bringing the total to 400.
The number of new confirmed cases had decreased to around 92 on the 28th after recording 144 on the 23rd of last month, but increased to 138 on the 9th and 10th, and rose again to 140 on the previous day.
Cluster infections in child care facilities and religious facilities continue to have an impact. Thirteen new confirmed cases were identified at a child care facility in Dobong-gu, and nine additional confirmed cases were reported related to a religious facility in Seongdong-gu.
Through cluster infections related to a daycare center in Nowon-gu and a restaurant in Yeongdeungpo-gu, three and two new confirmed cases were identified respectively. One additional confirmed case each was reported related to a nursing hospital in Dongdaemun-gu and a hospital. Twelve more cases were confirmed through other cluster infection cases.
The number of new confirmed cases through contact with other confirmed cases was counted at 50, and 40 cases are still under investigation for their infection routes.
