Jinju-si, Resumption of Visits to Elderly Care Facilities
Active Implementation of Non-Contact Visitations
Partial Allowance of Contact Visitations
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City, Gyeongnam Province, has restricted visits to elderly care facilities with many seniors vulnerable to infectious diseases since July last year to prevent group infections of COVID-19.
Starting from the 9th, the city decided to actively implement non-contact visitations to address complaints and grievances from patients and families, as well as concerns about human rights violations of residents due to blind spots in care.
In elderly care facilities, under the premise of complying with quarantine guidelines, routine visits will be conducted in a non-contact manner in a well-ventilated separate space with partitions between visitors and residents.
For residents who are terminally ill, unconscious, severely ill, or those whose attending physician recognizes the necessity of visits for emotional stability, contact visits will be allowed in single rooms or separate spaces without contact with other residents after strict prior quarantine measures.
To conduct non-contact visits, quarantine rules such as prior reservation, checking visitors for fever and respiratory symptoms, and disinfecting and ventilating the visitation room before and after visits must be followed. For contact visits, additional PCR testing (within 24 hours of the visit) or rapid antigen testing on-site is required.
