One New Confirmed Case Reported in Gwangju...Total 2,169 Cases
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] One new COVID-19 case has been confirmed in Gwangju Metropolitan City.
According to Gwangju City on the 11th, as of 2 p.m. that day, one person was confirmed positive and classified as Gwangju case number 2169.
Gwangju case 2169, known to be an employee at an administrative welfare center located in Seo-gu, has an unknown infection route.
He developed symptoms such as sore throat and muscle pain on the 8th, underwent testing two days later on the 10th, and was finally confirmed positive.
The health authorities currently report no connection with existing confirmed cases.
The administrative welfare center was temporarily closed that day, and 15 employees, excluding the confirmed case, completed specimen collection and entered self-quarantine.
The health authorities conducted on-site investigations and began identifying additional contacts through disaster safety messages, closed-circuit television (CCTV), and location information systems (GPS).
From that day until the 20th, the health authorities issued an administrative order requiring employers and foreign workers at workplaces with five or more foreign workers in the region to undergo COVID-19 diagnostic testing for 10 days.
This is a preemptive measure in response to the recent cluster infections among foreign workers at manufacturing plants in Gyeonggi-do and Chungnam regions.
