'COVID-19 Cluster Infection' 74 Cases at Seoul Soonchunhyang University Hospital Violated Mask-Wearing and Quarantine Rules
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] Violations of quarantine rules were confirmed at Soonchunhyang University Seoul Hospital, where a COVID-19 cluster infection occurred.
Seoul City announced on the 10th that analysis of the closed-circuit television (CCTV) at Soonchunhyang University Hospital confirmed that 74 people violated the mask-wearing quarantine rules.
The quarantine authorities anticipated that fines and claims for damages could be imposed. Park Young-jun, head of the Epidemiological Investigation Support Team at the Central Disease Control Headquarters (CDCH), stated, "I understand that Seoul City has secured related evidence and is proceeding with follow-up measures accordingly," adding, "It is believed that fines can be imposed when mask-wearing is insufficient."
He continued, "It will be reviewed whether institutional guidance and supervision influenced individuals' insufficient mask-wearing, and follow-up measures will be taken," adding, "If the local government reviews and finds grounds for claims for damages, it can be pursued together."
Post-measures such as imposing fines will be handled by Yongsan District, the competent local government. Seoul City reportedly notified the relevant data to Yongsan District.
