Expansion of Gangdong-gu Customized Care Service 'Dolbom SOS Center' Project
Care SOS Center Adds Four Major Services Since February, Supporting a Total of Eight Services... Gangdong-Type Specialized Care Service Added from Mid-March
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) is expanding the customized care service project ‘Care SOS Center’ to address care gaps.
Since February, the district has added four services (▲Companion Support ▲Housing Convenience ▲Welfare Check ▲Health Support) to the existing four care services (▲Temporary Home Care ▲Short-term Facility ▲Meal Support ▲Information Counseling), providing a total of eight services.
To support the service expansion, additional agreements have been made with 13 private organizations, bringing the total number of service providers to 40 institutions. The meal support service, which received high satisfaction last year, has been expanded to three locations to provide support by region.
Additionally, from mid-March, Gangdong-gu will provide three specialized care services unique to the district to prevent suicide and solitary death, in addition to the eight care services.
The additional services include ‘Safety Care,’ which supports repairs and maintenance of facilities threatening home safety; ‘Mental Care,’ which conducts a full survey of depression among care recipients and links to mental health projects; and ‘Daily Care,’ which provides disinfection and quarantine before temporary home care services and monitors care recipients during meal delivery.
The Care SOS Center is available to seniors, people with disabilities, and middle-aged adults over 50 who have difficulty with daily life due to sudden illness or accidents. Applications can be made at the Care SOS Centers located in each neighborhood.
Basic livelihood security recipients, legally designated low-income households, and households with income below 85% of the median income receive free support, while other residents can use the service with a co-payment. However, until June this year, support will be expanded to households with income up to 100% of the median income.
