Police Arrest Man in His 40s Who Called 112 Reporting "Bomb Installed at Cheongwadae"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] A man in his 40s who called 112 claiming to have planted explosives at the Blue House was arrested by the police.
The Songpa Police Station in Seoul announced on the 5th that they have detained and are investigating Mr. A (43) on charges of obstruction of official duties by deception.
Mr. A is suspected of calling 112 twice from a public phone at 4:23 a.m. and 4:27 a.m. on the same day, claiming, "I have planted a bomb at the Blue House."
The police dispatched officers to the public phone from which Mr. A made the calls, conducted fingerprint analysis, and identified his appearance through nearby closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, pursuing him accordingly.
While searching the Songpa-gu area, the police eventually found Mr. A around 6:31 a.m., about two hours later, approximately 400 meters from the public phone, and made an emergency arrest. Mr. A resisted by cursing at the approaching officers and pushing them with his elbows.
