More than 60,000 people received COVID-19 vaccinations the previous day, pushing the total number of vaccinated individuals beyond 220,000, while the number of deaths following vaccination increased to six.
The Central Disease Control Headquarters (CDCH) announced that as of midnight, 398 new domestic COVID-19 cases were confirmed, bringing the cumulative total to 91,638. By infection route, 381 cases were locally transmitted, and 17 were imported from overseas.
By region, the Seoul metropolitan area accounted for a high proportion with 129 cases in Seoul, 168 in Gyeonggi, and 12 in Incheon. In non-metropolitan areas, there were 20 cases in Busan, 19 in Chungbuk, 8 in Chungnam, 5 in Gwangju, 4 each in Gangwon and Gyeongbuk, 3 each in Jeonbuk, Daegu, and Gyeongnam, 2 in Jeju, and 1 in Sejong. No new cases were reported in Daejeon, Ulsan, or Jeonnam.
Among the 17 imported cases, 4 were identified during quarantine, and the remaining 13 were confirmed in the community. Eight were Korean nationals, and nine were foreigners.
The cumulative number of COVID-19 deaths increased by 8 from the previous day, reaching 1,627. Among hospitalized patients, the number of critically ill patients decreased by 5 to 135. The number of patients who were declared recovered and released from isolation increased by 398, totaling 82,560.
On this day, 37,111 diagnostic tests were conducted on suspected cases, and 27,270 tests were performed at temporary screening clinics set up in the metropolitan area, confirming 57 positive cases.
Additionally, the COVID-19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team reported that as of midnight, 67,153 people received additional COVID-19 vaccine doses, bringing the total number of people who completed the first dose to 225,853. Among them, 221,944 received the AstraZeneca vaccine, and 3,909 received the Pfizer vaccine.

As the number of vaccinated individuals increased, 860 additional cases suspected of adverse reactions were reported, bringing the total to 1,578. Of these, 1,558 were mild cases such as headaches, fever, and nausea, and 13 were suspected anaphylaxis cases. Notably, four additional deaths following vaccination were reported the previous day. Since vaccinations began on the 26th of last month, a total of six deaths have been reported, all among AstraZeneca vaccine recipients.
