Nongshim Launches Label-Free Baeksansu... Promotes PET Lightweighting
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-sun] Nongshim announced on the 2nd that it will launch label-free Baeksansu in May and promote lightweight PET bottles.
The "label-free Baeksansu" is characterized by eliminating the hassle of removing labels after drinking, thereby improving the convenience of separate disposal and increasing the recycling rate of PET bottles. The reduction in label usage also has the effect of saving resources. Nongshim expects to save about 40 tons of label film annually with the label-free Baeksansu.
Instead of using labels, the label-free Baeksansu will have the product name engraved on the PET bottle in a simple design. Product-related information such as mineral content will be printed on the bundle packaging. Nongshim will first apply the label-free Baeksansu to 2-liter and 0.5-liter products.
Sales are planned to start from May through home delivery and online malls.

Additionally, Nongshim is also promoting the lightweighting of PET bottles. In December 2019, Nongshim reduced plastic usage by about 13.5% by lightweighting the 0.5-liter Baeksansu product. From June, the 2L product will also undergo lightweighting, reducing plastic usage by 4% compared to the existing amount.
