[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangbuk-gu (District Mayor Park Gyeom-su) held an event on the 1st to commemorate the noble spirit of sacrifice of the patriots on the occasion of the 102nd anniversary of the March 1st Movement.
To prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the district conducted the event without citizen participation.
On this day, Gangbuk District Mayor Park Gyeom-su and district officials held a bell-ringing ceremony at Doseonsa Temple’s bell pavilion to pray for the promotion of the Hongik Ingan and Gwangmyeongisae ideals, then proceeded to Bonghwanggak and paid respects at the tomb of Ui-am Son Byeong-hui, who led the March 1st Movement.

Bonghwanggak, also known as Uichang Monastery, is a building established by Son Byeong-hui in 1912 to reclaim national sovereignty lost to Japanese colonial rule. As the birthplace of the March 1st Movement, 15 of the 33 national representatives of the movement emerged from here, and 483 independence activists were nurtured.
