View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Myeong Hyun-gwan) announced on the 26th that starting from 9 a.m., COVID-19 vaccinations began at elderly nursing hospitals and elderly care facilities, starting with Hyemin Hospital and Canaan Nursing Hospital.
The vaccine type is AstraZeneca, and 800 doses were delivered to the relevant facilities and public health centers on the 25th.
The county designated 29 commissioned medical institutions to support vaccinations at nursing facilities where mobility-impaired individuals reside, and formed two visiting vaccination teams composed of doctors and nurses from the county public health center to ensure the vaccination schedule proceeds smoothly.
The first dose will be completed by March 9, and the second dose is scheduled for late April or early May. General residents are expected to begin vaccinations from July. General vaccination sites include the Health Nuri Center established at Haenam-gun Public Health Center and commissioned medical institutions.
On the first day of vaccination, starting with 60 people at Hyemin Hospital and Canaan Nursing Hospital, the first dose is planned to be completed by the 8th of next month. The first vaccine recipient was Nurse Manager Lee Mi-jung of Canaan Nursing Hospital.
Nurse Manager Lee Mi-jung said, “We have been fighting against COVID-19 prevention for over a year to block infections among high-risk elderly groups, and now it feels like we are finally coming out of a long tunnel,” adding, “Since there are no adverse symptoms different from regular vaccines, I hope everyone can receive the vaccination with peace of mind.”

Meanwhile, the vaccination target population in Haenam-gun is 60,783 people aged 18 and over, with a goal of achieving herd immunity by the end of the year by vaccinating more than 70% of them.
