Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency and Seoul City Launch First Public-Private Council for Child Abuse Response System
[Asia Economy Reporter Donghoon Jeong] The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency has formed the 'Seoul Child Abuse Public-Private Council' together with the Seoul Metropolitan Government to prevent child abuse and held its first meeting on the 26th.
The council consists of about 10 members, including Gogi-cheol, Deputy Commissioner of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, the Director of the Women's and Family Policy Office of Seoul, as well as experts from the Ministry of Health and Welfare, Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, Seoul Child Protection Agency, and specialists in child welfare, medical, and legal fields. The council plans to establish an organic cooperation system among institutions through quarterly regular meetings and operate a practical task force team to respond immediately depending on the situation.
The meeting held on this day shared the roles of each institution, built a public-private cooperation system, and gathered various opinions for preparing a comprehensive plan to eradicate child abuse being prepared by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency and the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
Gogi-cheol, Deputy Commissioner of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, said, "Improving the child abuse response system is the first joint response task in the era of autonomous police," adding, "If the local community cooperates together to achieve fundamental institutional improvements, I am confident that it will become a model for the autonomous police system."
Song Dayoung, Director of the Women's and Family Policy Office of Seoul, stated, "Through continuous public-private cooperation, we will exchange various ideas to solve the child abuse problem and implement effective policies to ensure that all children can live in a safe environment, and we will do our best to make this happen."
