Department Students Respond with Contest Wins and External Scholarships

The Department of Advertising and Public Relations at Dongmyung University (President Jeong Hong-seop) (Department Head Lee Jeong-gi) recently celebrated a double blessing.
Professors Gu Ja-hwi and Han Eun-jung from this department both received Excellence Awards at the 4th ‘Dongmyung Industry-Academia Awards’ ceremony held on February 24. With these two ‘masters’ still active in the department, the students are also shining.
The Dongmyung Industry-Academia Awards are given to faculty members and businesspeople who have contributed to university development through organic industry-academia cooperation.
In the faculty category of the Dongmyung Industry-Academia Awards, five professors including Gu Ja-hwi, Han Eun-jung, Kim Sang-gil, Ahn Tae-young, and Hwang Jung-gi received Excellence Awards, while Professor Park Soo-young won the Grand Prize. The Department of Advertising and Public Relations was the only department to produce two awardees.
Professors Gu Ja-hwi and Han Eun-jung have been guiding 3rd and 4th-year students in advertising, PR, and marketing field internships, as well as providing ‘double mentoring’ where university and industry professionals jointly counsel students on career paths. They were also recognized for their active participation in various university financial support projects.
Professor Han Eun-jung said, “We will do our best to enhance the major competencies of Advertising and Public Relations students through intensive industry-academia cooperation.”

Dongmyung University’s Department of Advertising and Public Relations, noted for its government-industry-academia cooperative classes and practice-oriented education, has recently produced achievements such as ▲ Grand Prize in the University Brand Image Enhancement Hackathon (January 2021, 2nd-year students Kim Gyeong-eun, Kwon Bo-gyeong, Ji Da-young, Lee Sang-mi), ▲ Silver Award in the Korea University Student Advertising Competition (November 2020, 4th-year students Cha Sang-min, Hwang In-bo), ▲ Best Award in the Jeonju City Urban Regeneration Solution Contest (November 2020, 3rd-year student Kang Gyu-hyeon), and ▲ GS SHOP Content Leader Scholarships (first half of 2020: 4th-year Song Yu-rim, 2nd-year Lee Sang-mi; second half of 2020: 4th-year Yang Yu-jeong, Kwon Bo-gyeong).
