[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] The Korea Technology and Information Promotion Agency for SMEs (TIPA, President Lee Jae-hong) has joined hands with Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), Korea Power Exchange (KPX), and Korea Radioactive Waste Agency (KORAD) to support the innovative growth of SMEs in the energy sector.

On the 25th, TIPA and the three energy public institutions, including KEPCO, announced that they signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the efficient operation of the 'SME Energy Technology Market' supporting innovative growth of SMEs in the energy sector and mutual cooperation among participating organizations at the Korea Electric Power Research Institute located in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon.

This MOU was promoted with the purpose of fostering innovative growth of SMEs by supporting the entry of innovative products from SMEs in the energy sector into public procurement.

The SME Energy Technology Market was launched in October last year, led by KEPCO as the main institution, with the participation of 14 energy-related public institutions to support technology development and early commercialization of excellent technologies and products of SMEs in the energy sector.

Through this MOU, TIPA plans to support the entry of these technologies and products into public procurement by energy public institutions by recommending excellent technologies and products of SMEs in the energy sector and holding matching days between excellent companies and energy public institutions.

Jang In-seong, Head of Planning and Coordination at TIPA, said, "We will establish a cooperative system with KEPCO, KPX, and KORAD to ensure that excellent innovative technologies and products of SMEs in the energy sector lead to public procurement, contributing to the expansion of public procurement of innovative products in the energy sector."
