Hyundai Motor and Kia 17 Models Selected as 'Top Safety Picks' by US IIHS
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] Seventeen models from Hyundai Motor and Kia have been recognized as the safest cars by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) in the United States.
According to the industry on the 25th, IIHS awarded the 'Top Safety Pick Plus' rating to five models: Genesis G70 and G90, Hyundai Palisade and Nexo, and Kia K5.
Hyundai models Veloster, Kona, Tucson, Sonata, and Venue received the Top Safety Pick rating. Kia models Stinger, Seltos, Sportage, Forte, Soul, Sorento, and Telluride also earned the Top Safety Pick rating.
A total of 90 models were selected as safe cars by IIHS this year, including 17 models from Hyundai Motor Group. Hyundai Motor Group is the brand that produced the most vehicles with safety ratings.
To receive the Top Safety Pick rating, a vehicle must earn a 'Good' rating in six evaluation categories: front and side crashworthiness, roof strength, and driver and passenger small overlap tests.

Additionally, the vehicle must achieve at least an 'Advanced' rating in the front crash prevention system test and a 'Good' or higher rating in the headlight evaluation. For the Plus rating, all trims must receive an 'Advanced' or 'Good' rating in the headlight evaluation.
