Dongdaemun-gu to Provide Up to 1.5 Million Won Employment Retention Support for Unpaid Leave Workers
COVID-19 Impacted Workers Employment Retention Support Fund Applications Start in March... Priority Support for Unpaid Leave Workers Due to Gathering Bans and Business Restrictions... Up to 1.5 Million Won for 3 Months
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol) will provide employment retention support funds of up to 1.5 million KRW to unpaid leave workers at companies struggling due to COVID-19 restrictions such as business suspension and operation limits.
The unpaid leave employment retention support fund is a system designed to support unpaid leave for workers at small businesses and micro-enterprises with fewer than 50 employees, where paid leave is realistically difficult.
The district will pay 500,000 KRW per month, up to a maximum of 1.5 million KRW over three months, to workers who have taken unpaid leave of five days or more per month from November 14, 2020, to March 31, 2021, and who maintain employment insurance until April 30.
In particular, all companies with fewer than 50 employees that have implemented unpaid leave are eligible to apply for the support fund, but priority will be given to workers belonging to businesses such as karaoke rooms, academies, restaurants, cafes, and PC rooms that have been subject to business suspension or operation restrictions due to COVID-19.
The application period is one month from March 1 to 31, and applications can be submitted via on-site visit (Dongdaemun-gu Office basement level 2 employment retention support fund reception desk), email (ddmgoodgob@ddm.go.kr), fax, or registered mail (Job Policy Division, 145 Cheonho-daero, Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul). However, on holidays and weekends, only email applications are accepted.
Required documents include the employment retention support fund application form, business registration certificate, employment insurance workplace acquisition list, personal information consent form, and a copy of the unpaid leave worker’s bankbook. Proxy applications are also possible with a power of attorney attached.
For more details, please refer to the Dongdaemun-gu website’s district news section or contact the Job Policy Division at Dongdaemun-gu Office.
