[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Dong-Eui University (President Han Su-hwan) Office of Educational Innovation (Director Lee Young-hak) held the ‘2020 Collaboration Education Best Practice Presentation’ on February 23rd from 2 PM at the 4th floor studio of the Industry-Academia Cooperation Building.

The forum was live-streamed via YouTube channel, with university officials nationwide, Dong-Eui University professors, staff, and students participating online.

The event proceeded with opening remarks by Vice President for Academic Affairs Jo Jae-kyun and an opening address by Director Lee Young-hak of the Office of Educational Innovation (Collaboration Education of Sharing, Empathy, and Resonance), followed by case presentations including ‘Class Operation Cases for Fostering Collaborative Talents’ by Deputy Director Choi Hoon of the Office of Educational Innovation, ‘Project Teaching Method for Professors and Students Growing Together’ by Professor Kang Joo-ri of the Center for Teaching and Learning Development, ‘Training Learning Community Leaders for Project Classes’ by Professor Hwang Doo-kyung of the Center for Teaching and Learning Development, and ‘Focused Care Program Based on the GRIT System’ by Professor Song Yeon-joo of the Student Counseling Center.

Jo Jae-kyun, Vice President for Academic Affairs at Dong-Eui University, said, “I am convinced that university competitiveness starts from the most fundamental education, and since the Ministry of Education’s PRIME project in 2016, we have been teaching students with the talent ideal of ‘Collaborative Talents Creating a Forest Together.’”

Dong-Eui University has established the collaboration education system for nurturing collaborative talents as its unique educational brand. Collaborative talents are not only equipped with technical and major knowledge but are integrative talents possessing character, basic literacy, creativity, and critical thinking skills.

They refer to talents who embody the six core competencies of self-management, glocality, sharing, communication, convergence, and challenge achievement, derived from Dong-Eui University’s founding philosophy of Dongui Jicheon.

To support the collaboration education system, new courses and various extracurricular programs are developed annually, and last year, the university introduced the Faculty Competency Certification System (SUN) to enhance faculty capabilities.

The Faculty Competency Certification System is a program certifying essential competencies of faculty members, aiming to improve instructors’ Specialty, Utilization (class operation skills), and Network (communication skills).

Additionally, a three-stage collaboration project curriculum (1st-year Cornerstone Design, 2nd and 3rd-year Keystone Design, and 4th-year Capstone Design) is offered across all departments, establishing an educational system where students go beyond simply attending lectures to engage in team-based learning with peers, further strengthening the scope and intensity of collaboration to solve problems.
