Naver to End 'News Topic' and 'Real-time Search' Services Tomorrow
[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] Naver is ending its 'News Topic' service, which aggregated and displayed frequently used keywords from news articles by time slot.
On the 24th, Naver announced, "The 'News Topic' service, first introduced in 2010 under the name 'Hot Topic Keyword,' will be discontinued as of February 25." Naver explained, "As news consumption has shifted towards subscribing to specific media outlets, users now select news by media rather than viewing news on the mobile main screen. In line with the trend where users choose media directly and receive diverse news recommendations, we have decided to end the News Topic service."
