TIPA, Recruiting Companies for the 6th Batch of the 'TechUp Program'
[Asia Economy Reporter Junhyung Lee] The Korea Technology and Information Promotion Agency for SMEs (TIPA) announced on the 24th that it is recruiting companies to participate in the '2021 1st TechUP Program.' The application period is until the 12th of next month.
The TechUP Program is designed to support companies developing new technologies and innovative products to attract investment and grow into unicorn companies. Operating since 2018, this program is recruiting its 6th cohort this year.
Participating companies receive continuous support to strengthen their investment attraction capabilities. TIPA provides opportunities for investor relations (IR) capability enhancement training, information on domestic and international market trends, and meetings with investment institutions.
This year, about 20 promising companies in the carbon reduction and energy sectors will be selected. TIPA plans to provide focused support to help SMEs respond to carbon neutrality.
Additionally, selected companies will have the opportunity to participate in investment briefings linked to other institutions' investment attraction programs, such as the Korea Development Bank's Next Round, through TIPA's recommendation.
Until last year, this program achieved tangible results, with 23 companies attracting investments totaling 14.5 billion KRW. In the past year alone, TIPA expanded support by discovering and nurturing 100 promising companies, a fivefold increase compared to the previous year. Currently, 140 companies are participating in the program.
