‘Project logistics’ refers to the transportation and supply of all materials and heavy items required to carry out specific projects such as large-scale social infrastructure installations and production facility constructions, in accordance with the site schedule.
Since this is a large-scale project involving multiple shipments over more than a year, including maritime and inland transportation, the final contract amount has not yet been determined.
CJ ICM ships various equipment from five countries including China, Belgium, Spain, Germany, and Italy, providing comprehensive logistics services such as maritime transport, transshipment, customs clearance, cargo handling, and inland transportation. The transport list includes super-heavy items weighing over 500 tons, with the total weight of all cargo reaching approximately 8,000 tons. Assuming the weight of an adult is 70 kg, this corresponds to the weight of about 110,000 people.
The one-way transport distance from each country to the construction site in Uzbekistan via sea and inland routes reaches about 20,000 km. For this project, a large-scale workforce and logistics equipment including heavy cargo transport specialists, cargo ships, transport vehicles, and hydraulic modular trailers will be deployed. In the case of super-heavy cargo transport, even minor shocks can cause significant shaking, so high-level logistics design technology and experience are essential prerequisites for the project.
CJ ICM has established a 24-hour weather monitoring system to prepare for adverse weather conditions such as typhoons and heavy rain during maritime transport, and will safely carry out logistics according to crisis response guidelines, including alternative route operation and deployment of substitute equipment in case of emergencies.
For inland transportation, the company will deploy hydraulic modular trailers capable of carrying weights over 500 tons. Precise weight distribution work is conducted, including calculating cargo load, selecting securing positions, and manufacturing special supports. Since the condition of road pavement, curves, and altitude changes are sensitive factors, the speed is maintained at around 20 km/h.
‘Civil work’ operations are also carried out to remove obstacles occurring during transport, considering the weight, height, and width of the equipment. To pass most bridges designed for loads under 50 tons, pre-construction work is conducted to dismantle overhead wires, traffic lights, and signboards on bridges and roads. Additionally, based on the understanding of government agency responsiveness, laws, policies, religions, and cultures of each country, locally optimized comprehensive logistics services are provided.
CJ Logistics plans to actively expand its super-heavy cargo transport business based on the logistics for this Uzbekistan natural gas processing facility project.
