The Korea Post announced on the 23rd that it signed a business agreement with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety regarding this matter. In this context, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety plans to expand the 'Mom Comfortable Pregnancy' integrated service nationwide starting in April, which has been piloted since last year in 20 local governments to overcome low birthrate and aging population issues and create a better environment for having and raising children.
The problem is that currently, pregnant women have to visit health centers and community service centers multiple times to apply separately for public support services and must pick up the items themselves. To alleviate these inconveniences, the government plans to enable integrated guidance and application through electronic government services (Government24 and online) as well as health centers and community service centers (offline). In particular, through this agreement, goods support services such as folic acid and iron supplements will be converted to non-face-to-face services via Korea Post parcel delivery.
Delivery workers will visit health centers to receive goods non-face-to-face and then deliver them non-face-to-face to locations pre-selected by pregnant women. Pregnant women, who are a high-risk group for COVID-19, will be able to receive pregnancy support services more safely and conveniently without exposure to COVID-19 infection routes. The parcel delivery fees will also be applied at significantly discounted rates.
