Woo Sang-ho "Another vested interest after the prosecution... Special treatment for doctors must be corrected"
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] Woo Sang-ho, the Democratic Party of Korea's preliminary candidate for Seoul mayor, emphasized on the 22nd that this opportunity should also be used to correct the special treatment of doctors.
Regarding the Medical Service Act amendment that deals with license revocation for doctors who commit serious crimes (imprisonment or higher), and the Korean Medical Association's opposition citing reasons such as 'refusal to cooperate with vaccination,' Woo pointed out, "Qualification restrictions that apply to lawyers and accountants have not been applied to doctors."
In particular, Woo said, "It was such a confusing and difficult time to correct the excessive exercise of prosecutorial power stemming from the monopoly and convenience of prosecution," adding, "This time, it is a matter of correcting the special treatment of doctors, another vested interest," emphasizing that although resistance to reform will be considerable, it must be achieved.
Regarding Choi Dae-jip, the chairman leading the opposition, Woo said, "He was a figure who endlessly supported former President Park Geun-hye," and added, "Despite the reckless opposition of Chairman Choi Dae-jip of the Medical Association, I believe that the majority of reasonable doctors will agree with the amendment."

He then said, "I want to ask Ahn Cheol-soo, a doctor-turned-candidate whose statements every day start only with criticism of the government," and after a slight jab at candidate Ahn, demanded, "Tell us whether you agree with the opinion of Chairman Choi Dae-jip, who supported Park Geun-hye, on the Medical Service Act amendment, or with the thoughts of the majority of reasonable doctors."
