Over the past 10 years, the total number of registered vehicles in Gwangju increased by about 150,000 from 535,812 in 2011 to 691,740, showing a growth rate of 29%. By vehicle type, passenger cars increased by 37%, trucks by 9%, special vehicles by 93%, while vans decreased by 26%.
The decrease in van registrations compared to passenger cars is attributed to the increase in single-person households.
The number of registered eco-friendly vehicles increased by 31%, from 16,313 in 2019 to 21,370 at the end of 2020. It is expected that the proportion of eco-friendly vehicles will further increase this year if the support amount for scrapping old diesel vehicles is raised.
