View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] A man in his 30s who brutally assaulted a stranger in Gumi, Gyeongbuk, was arrested by the police.
The Gumi Police Station in Gyeongbuk announced on the 17th that they had detained A (31) on charges of causing injury (special assault) after assaulting a man in his 60s in a market alley because he looked at him.
A is accused of provoking a dispute and indiscriminately assaulting B (65), who was passing by, using fists and knees around 10:20 a.m. on the 14th in an alley of Geumo Market in Wonpyeong-dong, Gumi City, after their eyes met.
At the time, B was wearing earphones and looking at A, who was sitting in the alley. Then A said rudely and cursed, "What are you looking at?" and B replied, "I thought you were someone I knew."
B tried to pass by, but A knocked B down and violently assaulted him using fists and feet. B was assaulted without any resistance, and A immediately left the scene.
During the indiscriminate assault that lasted about 30 seconds, B suffered a torn eye area and several broken teeth. It was also reported that B has been in poor health due to a stroke suffered three years ago.
The police analyzed CCTV footage from the scene immediately after receiving the report and tracked down A, who was staying at a motel in Wonpyeong-dong, Gumi City.
