Park Young-sun Unveils '21-Minute City Seoul' Plan in First TV Debate on the 15th
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] Park Young-sun, former Minister of SMEs and Startups and a preliminary candidate for the Seoul mayoral election from the Democratic Party of Korea, will hold her first TV public debate with Assemblyman Woo Sang-ho on the 15th.
On the same day at 10:40 PM, Park will appear on MBC's '100-Minute Debate' to explain her vision of 'Seoul's Great Transformation - 21-Minute City Seoul.' She plans to actively emphasize her career to appeal for support. Starting from being the first female correspondent during her time as an MBC reporter, she will highlight her solid experience and stability as the first floor leader and chairman of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee in the National Assembly, a four-term assembly member, and Minister of SMEs and Startups, asserting that she is the best candidate to lead Seoul.
She will also state that this election is to choose a 'mayor for the people's livelihood,' not a 'politician,' and express her determination to earn the choice of Seoul citizens through her accumulated achievements and policy vision.
In particular, Park plans to focus on presenting her 'Seoul's Great Transformation - 21-Minute City' vision for the next 100 years of Seoul's future and concrete implementation plans during the debate.
Under the slogan 'Seoul's Great Transformation,' Park advocates building a '21-minute compact city' where all aspects of daily life?residence, workplace, education, childcare, healthcare, shopping, leisure, and culture?are accessible within a 21-minute distance, creating an integrated urban space. She especially emphasizes creating a vertical garden city with smart farms to enable urban farming lifestyles, which will ultimately reduce carbon emissions and fine dust, addressing environmental issues. She highlights that Seoul will take a significant step toward a carbon-neutral era and leap forward as a global standard city in the digital age.
Regarding her key pledge to supply 300,000 public housing units within five years in Seoul, she plans to present land acquisition and funding strategies and reiterate her commitment to realizing half-priced apartments at 10 million KRW per pyeong for the homeless.
