KOSPI Daily Trading Volume Decreased by 25%
[Asia Economy Reporter Junho Hwang] The average daily trading value in the KOSPI market has decreased compared to last month.
According to the Korea Exchange on the 14th, the average daily trading value of KOSPI from the 1st to the 10th of this month was 19.8 trillion KRW, down 25.0% from 26.5 trillion KRW last month. The market capitalization turnover rate (the ratio of trading value to market capitalization) also declined. This month's turnover rate averaged 0.93% per day, the lowest monthly rate since November last year (0.89%).
Last month, KOSPI was particularly active due to the influx of new individual investors. Starting the new year in the high 2800s, KOSPI rose to the 3200 level intraday within six trading days. On the 11th of last month, the trading value reached a record high of 44 trillion KRW, showing unprecedentedly active trading. KOSPI fluctuated approximately 400 points last month, moving from 2869 to 3266.
