Dobong-gu Mayor Lee Dong-jin Urges Enactment of the 'Basic Social Economy Act'
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Lee Dong-jin, Mayor of Dobong-gu, urged the prompt passage of the 'Social Economy Basic Act,' which has not been passed for the past seven years.
Dobong-gu joined the call for the enactment of the 'Social Economy Basic Act' to solve the deepening social problems caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic through the core values of social economy: solidarity and cooperation.
So far, Dobong-gu has established the Seoul Dobong-gu Ordinance on the Promotion and Support of Social Economy to build a local ecosystem for social economy, formulated an annual plan to revitalize social economy, and carried out various policy projects such as ▲ fostering and supporting social economy enterprises ▲ supporting social economy education and training ▲ establishing and operating social economy intermediary support organizations.
Through the video urging the enactment of the Basic Act, Lee Dong-jin, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “The Social Economy Basic Act will play a key role in transforming the past capital-centered economic system into a ‘people-centered economy.’ I hope the Basic Act will be enacted so that social economy can become a universal value in our society.”
This video urging the enactment of the Social Economy Basic Act was planned by the National Council of Local Governments for Social Solidarity Economy to raise awareness of social economy and urge the legislative enactment of the 'Social Economy Basic Act.'
