AK Plaza "Naver Pay On-site Payment Users Surge... Most in Their 30s"
Among Naver Pay users, customers in their 30s account for the largest share at 37.8%
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] AK Plaza announced on the 13th that the number of customers using the offline simple payment service introduced last year recently exceeded 10,000.
AK Plaza was the first in the industry to introduce the 'Naver Pay On-site Payment' service at all stores in November last year. Naver Pay is characterized by allowing simple payments without cumbersome procedures such as public certification or security cards, as long as the user is registered as a member.
According to AK Plaza's sales data by payment method, the number of users of the Naver Pay On-site Payment service has continuously increased, recently surpassing 10,000. By age group, the usage rate of simple payments was highest among those in their 30s at 37.8%, followed by those in their 40s at 25.6%. While usage rates by age group were similar across all stores, AK Plaza Suwon, which attracts many young consumers, showed a high usage rate of 31% among customers in their 20s.
Looking at the usage rates of simple payments by department store genre, the F&B sector such as cafes and bakeries had the highest rate at 20%, and the processed goods sector including daily necessities and health foods also showed a high rate at 18%. On a weekly basis, the highest usage rate of simple payments was recorded during the year-end season last year (December 14 to 31).
At AK Mall, an online comprehensive shopping mall operated by AK Plaza, the proportion of simple payment usage increased from 17.4% in 2019 to 22% last year. An AK Mall official said, "Payment methods are chosen based on the convenience of payment, the level of benefits received when using them, and their usability."

Meanwhile, AK Plaza is holding an event until February 28 where customers who make their first payment of 30,000 won or more using Naver Pay On-site Payment at all stores will receive 10,000 won in points. At AK Mall, from February 10 to 13, an event is underway where customers who use Toss as a payment method and purchase 30,000 won or more will receive an immediate 10% discount.
