US ITC Partially Upholds LG's Position in LG-SK Battery Dispute (Update)
[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] The United States has recognized LG Energy Solution's position in the trade secret infringement dispute between LG Energy Solution and SK Innovation over secondary batteries.
The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) issued a final determination on the 10th (local time) partially acknowledging LG Energy Solution's claim that SK Innovation infringed on its trade secrets.
Accordingly, the ITC issued a limited exclusion order banning SK from importing certain lithium-ion batteries for 10 years.
However, concerned about the impact of sanctions on domestic automobile production facilities, the ITC also granted a grace period allowing SK's partners, Ford and Volkswagen, to import batteries and parts for U.S. production for 4 years and 2 years respectively.
