'Kim Su-young Yangcheon-gu Mayor's' 'Mom's Lunchbox' Delivered This Lunar New Year Holiday
Yangcheon District Mayor Kim Su-young's 'Mom's Lunchbox' Prepared Every Holiday... Menu Selected Based on Children's Preference Survey
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kim Soo-young) will deliver ‘Mom’s Lunchbox’ kit boxes, consisting of retort pouch foods that children can cook and eat by themselves, non-face-to-face over two days on the 9th and 10th, so that children left in the blind spots of meal services due to meal gaps at home during the Lunar New Year holiday can have a warm holiday.
Yangcheon-gu’s ‘Mom’s Lunchbox,’ which delivers warm and nutritious lunchboxes to children who find it difficult to prepare meals due to the absence of parental care during the holiday period, has been a project that Mayor Kim Soo-young has consistently managed every Lunar New Year since 2015. So far, more than 500 children have received Mom’s Lunchbox.
Children from single-parent families, dual-income families, and others often use meal services at local children’s centers or use the Kkum Namu Card to have meals at affiliated general restaurants. During the holidays, many Kkum Namu Card affiliated stores are closed, and since children are often left alone, it is difficult for them to have a properly nutritious meal.
‘Mom’s Lunchbox,’ conducted as a special measure for child meal services during the holiday period, has selected and provided side dishes and supplementary ingredients preferred by children through satisfaction surveys each time.
This holiday, a 3-day kit box consisting of retort pouch foods preferred by children (fried rice, galbitang [beef short rib soup], pork ribs, tteokbokki, smoked chicken, snacks, etc., 16 items in total) will be delivered.
The recipients are selected through the community service centers, and 56 children at risk of meal deprivation, including those targeted by the child meal home-cooked project and children wishing for ‘Mom’s Lunchbox,’ will receive supplementary ingredients worth 36,000 KRW per child (12,000 KRW per day) delivered by Happy Lunchbox according to the schedule by district over two days (February 9?10).
After delivering Mom’s Lunchbox, a reassurance text message is sent to parents who may be worried about meals to inform them of the delivery results and to convey warm and heartfelt holiday greetings.

Mayor Kim Soo-young of Yangcheon-gu said, “I am grateful to the Yangcheon Love Welfare Foundation, which donates part of the meal expenses every year, and I hope that the ‘Mom’s Lunchbox’ kit box will be a hearty meal for our children during the Lunar New Year holiday.” He added, “We will continue to support quality meal services for targeted children so that growing children can grow up healthily without meal deprivation.”
