[Asia Economy Reporter Eunbyeol Kim] In December last year, Germany recorded a trade surplus of 16.1 billion euros (seasonally adjusted). Despite the strengthened lockdown measures due to the COVID-19 pandemic, trade with the United States, China, and other countries remained robust.
According to the German Federal Statistical Office on the 9th (local time), Germany's trade surplus in December last year was 16.1 billion euros, and the annual trade surplus for the year was 179.1 billion euros.
Exports in December increased by 0.1% compared to the previous month, which was better than the market expectation of a 0.5% decrease. In November, exports had increased by 2.3% compared to the previous month. Imports decreased by 0.1% compared to the previous month.
