Changwon City, "Changwon Will Lead the Globalization of the Hydrogen Industry"
Awarded the International Innovation City Prize at the Guangzhou Commerce Awards Ceremony
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Changwon City in Gyeongnam announced on the 9th that it won the 'International Innovation City Award' at the judging of the '5th Guangzhou International Urban Innovation Award' (Guangzhou Award), jointly hosted by Guangzhou City, China, the United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), and the Metropolis Association.
The Guangzhou Award was established in 2012 by Guangzhou City, China, the United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), and the Metropolis Association to discover and share urban innovation cases worldwide, aiming for the joint development of global cities. It is awarded biennially.
The city received the 'Guangzhou Award' for its 'Vision and Promotion Plan for a New Hydrogen-Centered Changwon 2040' and related projects, established to achieve stable hydrogen supply and utilization.
Starting with the designation as a hydrogen electric vehicle priority distribution city in 2015 and the hydrogen infrastructure distribution policy, the city is currently promoting 32 projects across 5 major categories and 13 subcategories to build a hydrogen energy self-reliant city.
The '30 Innovative Cities' selected alongside the city include major global cities such as Copenhagen, Denmark; Paris, France; and Berlin, Germany.
