Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education Announces 7 Key Positions Including Education Directors

View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] The Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education announced on the 8th the regular personnel appointments for seven major position appointees effective next month on the 1st.
In this personnel appointment, Ko Gwang-jin, principal of Munhyang High School, was appointed as the head of the Future Talent Division at the main office; Jo Young-rae, superintendent of the Labor-Management Cooperation Team in the Labor-Management Policy Division at the main office, was appointed as the head of the Physical Education, Health, and Arts Division; and Kim Seong-hee, head of the Training Planning Department at the Jeonnam Education Training Institute, was appointed as the director of the Jeonnam Creative Convergence Education Center.
Additionally, Lee Hyun-hee, head of the Future Talent Division at the main office, was appointed as the superintendent of the Hwasun Education Support Office; Kim Seong-ho, head of the Education Support Division at the Jangheung Education Support Office, was appointed as the superintendent of the Jangheung Education Support Office; Seo Jang-pil, principal of Wando Sinji Middle School, was appointed as the superintendent of the Wando Education Support Office; and Choi Gwang-hee, head of the Curriculum Team in the Secondary Education Division at the main office, was appointed as the superintendent of the Gangjin Education Support Office.
Meanwhile, Lim Won-taek, director of the Jeonnam Student Education Center whose term has expired, Heo Seong-gyun, superintendent of the Gokseong Education Support Office, and Jo Jeong-ja, superintendent of the Gwangyang Education Support Office, all with six months remaining in their terms, were reappointed as is.
This personnel appointment attracted significant attention inside and outside the education community as it was conducted by Superintendent Jang Seok-ung ahead of the upcoming direct election for superintendent scheduled for June next year.
An official from the Provincial Office of Education said, “Even before the personnel announcement, staff members were on edge wondering who would become the superintendents,” adding, “There are even rumors that Superintendent Jang plans to appoint a ‘specific person as superintendent’ with next year’s election in mind.”
The Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education stated that it activated the Major Position Recommendation Committee to select talent based on ability and performance for this personnel appointment. The committee recommended candidates to the superintendent in double the number after a review process that enhanced fairness, transparency, and objectivity to improve organizational culture and the basic direction of Jeonnam education.

Superintendent Jang Seok-ung said, “The appointees for these major positions have the philosophy to realize innovative Jeonnam education policies and possess the qualities and capabilities to lead changes in Jeonnam education centered on school support,” adding, “I expect them to greatly contribute to the development of Jeonnam education by leading innovative Jeonnam education with democratic leadership.”
