Former lawmaker Oh Shin-hwan was assigned number 1, former Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon number 2, former lawmaker Na Kyung-won number 3, and Seocho District Mayor Cho Eun-hee number 4.
The People Power Party held a 'Seoul Mayoral Candidate Media Day' at 11 a.m. on the 8th at the central party office in Yeouido, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul.
Former lawmaker Oh, running as candidate number 1 in the People Power Party primary, said, "Being candidate number 1 means to create a whirlwind and ensure victory as the top candidate of the People Power Party. Another meaning is to definitely win the Seoul mayoral election, judge the Moon Jae-in administration, reclaim the government, and become the majority party to bring back the number 1 candidate number."
He continued, "Through healthy competition, the opposition will expand further, and the People Power Party will hold a primary that earns the trust of the people. We will include many voices of the youth and thoroughly reject old-fashioned politics, factionalism, and money politics to conduct a fair primary. I will do my best to reclaim Seoul and become a young mayor who creates a new future for Seoul," he emphasized.
Former Seoul Mayor Oh, assigned number 2, said, "Seoul citizens are having a hard time and suffering a lot. Over the past 10 years, Seoul's competitiveness has declined, and quality of life has decreased. I feel an immense sense of responsibility. I stand here to be a mayor who comforts and supports citizens who have suffered greatly during COVID-19."
He added, "Number 2 is a lucky number. My candidacy was delayed and I had deep concerns, so I started behind. Starting as second place means the conclusion is to go first in the final race, and I am determined to do so."
Former lawmaker Na, candidate number 3, said, "I believe the Seoul mayoral election is one where the people want to judge the arrogant and hypocritical reality. The people want to wield a disciplinary stick. However, they have not yet trusted the opposition party that would listen with them. I hope this primary process can be a political reform process that gathers such sentiments."
Na also said, "We must win this election. There is no strong force in Seoul. Out of 109 city council members, only 6, and out of 25 district mayors, only one belong to us. To win this election, we must strengthen our allies and expand to centrists."
Seocho District Mayor Cho, who said earlier that she "did not want to be number 4," said, "Since I was assigned number 4, I will work with a do-or-die spirit. If I run with the determination to die, I believe I can come in first."
Cho said, "This election is about skyrocketing housing prices, tax bombs, and the collapse of people's livelihoods, with Seoul citizens crying out. It is an election to judge the Moon Jae-in administration and save Seoul citizens shedding tears in the pit of suffering. I will be a hawk that catches a pheasant. I will catch former Minister Park Young-sun and judge President Moon Jae-in. If you give your support to Cho Eun-hee, Cho Eun-hee will win."
