Police "Digital Forensics Related to Lee Yong-gu Ongoing... Will Take More Time"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] The police are conducting a fact-finding investigation into the allegations related to the assault incident involving Vice Minister of Justice Lee Yong-gu and a taxi driver, focusing on analyzing the mobile phones of the investigators and the command line at the time.
Choi Seung-ryeol, acting head of the National Investigation Headquarters of the National Police Agency, stated on the 8th, "(Digital forensics) is ongoing" and added, "There are no difficulties in the investigation."
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's fact-finding team has previously secured and is analyzing the mobile phones and office PCs of the Seocho Police Station chief, department heads, and team leaders. Director Choi explained, "We need more time to forensic analyze related video materials, mobile phones, and computers, and to verify whether they match the statements of the involved parties."
Investigations are also ongoing into the second operator of the 'Digital Prison,' which caused controversy on the internet due to 'private sanctions' and false information. After arresting and detaining the first operator in Vietnam last October, the police handed the case over to the prosecution. However, as the second operator appeared afterward, the police investigation continues. Director Choi said, "The Daegu Police Agency has been designated as the lead investigative agency and is cooperating with the Busan Police Agency to investigate the second operator."
