First Lady Kim Jung-sook Presents 'Storytelling' Gift for Children Ahead of Lunar New Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Kim Jung-sook, the wife of President Moon Jae-in, narrated a fairy tale as a gift to children ahead of the Lunar New Year.
The Blue House announced on the 8th that the video of Kim narrating the fairy tale "The Grandmother with Big Hands Making Dumplings" was released on the website and YouTube account of the Community Chest of Korea, where Kim serves as honorary chairperson.
Kim's storytelling was intended to share the warm meaning of sharing during the Lunar New Year with children celebrating the holiday amid the COVID-19 situation.
The fairy tale "The Grandmother with Big Hands Making Dumplings" is a story set in a countryside home, depicting the grandmother's warm affection for children who will spend a Lunar New Year unable to gather with their extended families. It was written by Chae In-seon and illustrated by Lee Eok-bae.
Kim wore traditional Korean daily hanbok at the Blue House's Sangchunjae and performed a vivid one-person multi-role narration matching the atmosphere of the fairy tale. Kim said, "If children, like the grandmother with big hands, share small things with their friends, they will receive the gift of their friends' bright smiles."
