Seoul Reports 143 New COVID-19 Cases, Exceeding 100 for 30 Consecutive Days... Cluster Infections Continue
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Amid the ongoing third wave of COVID-19, the number of new confirmed cases in Seoul has exceeded 100 for 30 consecutive days.
According to Seoul City on the 6th, the number of new COVID-19 confirmed cases recorded the previous day was 143, an increase of 17 compared to the 4th.
The record of new confirmed cases exceeding 100 has continued for 30 days, from the 7th of last month to the 5th of this month. Although the number of new confirmed cases dropped to 100 on the 30th of last month, it has surged again above 100 since the beginning of this month.
Among the cases, 142 were locally transmitted and 1 was imported. Of the locally transmitted cases, 32 were identified through anonymous testing at temporary screening clinics.
The number of tests conducted per day increased from 24,297 on the 3rd to 24,969 on the 4th. Amid ongoing cluster infections, the cumulative number of confirmed cases from the sauna cluster in Gangbuk-gu has risen to 27. In Seoul, 26 cases were confirmed, with 9 additional cases identified the previous day. The infections include 12 users, 4 family members, 7 acquaintances, and 3 employees. Seven new confirmed cases also emerged from the cluster infection at Hanyang University Hospital in Seongdong-gu. The cumulative number of confirmed cases reached 80, with 76 of them in Seoul alone.

As of midnight on the day, Seoul's cumulative confirmed cases totaled 25,023, with 3,681 patients in isolation and 21,009 discharged after recovery. The death toll increased by one to 333.
