Incheon Airport Terminal 1 Opens 'Art & Nature' Themed Complex Cultural Rest Area
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyewon] Incheon International Airport Corporation announced on the 5th that it will open two complex cultural rest areas themed around art and nature near gates 16 and 39 in the duty-free area of Terminal 1 at Incheon Airport.
The names of the newly introduced rest areas are 'Star-Dium' and 'Little Forest.' During the design process, priority was given to passenger convenience in traffic flow arrangement, securing ample resting space, and the use of eco-friendly materials.
The corporation plans to present diverse cultural and artistic performances such as jazz, classical music, and traditional Korean music daily at the two rest areas.
These rest areas are designed around a light prism-themed sculpture (Star-Dium) and a garden-themed wooden sculpture (Little Forest), aiming to serve as popular spots where domestic and international passengers visiting Incheon Airport can take SNS certification photos.
Star-Dium, located near gate 16 on the east side of Terminal 1, features a unique structure themed on light and stars. The beauty of light reflected in full spectrum colors through the prism harmonizes with the rest area, offering passengers a distinctive enjoyment.
Little Forest is located near gate 39 on the west side of Terminal 1 and features a 'small garden within the airport' centered around a large wooden sculpture measuring 6.5 meters, surrounded by various plants.
The corporation plans to create two additional passenger terminal rest areas within this year.
President Kim Kyung-wook stated, "We plan to establish Incheon Airport as a world-class Culture-port by providing differentiated cultural and artistic services unique to Incheon Airport, thereby securing a competitive edge as a global hub airport in the post-COVID era."
