Naju-si Conducts On-site Inspection of 'Environmental Basic Facilities' Ahead of Seollal Holiday
[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Han-hyeok] On the 4th, Naju City in Jeollanam-do announced that it conducted an on-site inspection of environmental basic facilities to manage a pleasant living environment ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.
On the 3rd, Vice Mayor Jeong Chan-gyun visited the Naju Public Sewage Treatment Plant and the human and livestock waste treatment plants respectively, focusing on checking whether each facility was operating normally, the holiday emergency response system, and plans for odor improvement projects.
At the facilities located in Ungok-dong, approximately 22,750 tons per day (20,500 tons of sewage, 150 tons of livestock waste, and 100 tons of human waste) of wastewater is purified and discharged into the Yeongsan River to prevent water pollution.
The city is promoting a facility improvement project worth 11 billion KRW annually to improve the living environment of residents near the environmental basic facilities.
Additionally, the city plans to start construction next month on a sewage pipeline maintenance project to open 5.6 km of sewage pipelines in the areas of Jeongryang, Jinbu, and Pyeongchon villages in Ungok-dong, investing 3.8 billion KRW of city funds, aiming for completion in 2023.

A city official said, “Please ensure perfection in establishing an emergency response system so that there are no disruptions in facility operations during the holiday period,” and added, “We will do our best to promote odor prevention projects so that residents who have long suffered from odor problems can live in a pleasant environment as soon as possible.”
