[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] On the morning of the 4th, Lee Dong-jin, the mayor of Dobong-gu, personally joined the staff in urgent snow removal work.
According to the weather forecast predicting heavy snowfall in Seoul and the metropolitan area from the evening of the 3rd to the early morning of the 4th, Dobong-gu issued a Level 2 snow removal alert from 2 PM on the 3rd and entered an emergency duty system.
Accordingly, Mayor Lee Dong-jin visited the site early in the morning with staff to carry out snow removal work for the safety of commuters at Banghak Station, a high foot traffic area, and to ensure the smooth operation of a temporarily established screening clinic.
The mayor and staff quickly conducted snow removal using multi-purpose blowers and other equipment prepared for the task, while manually shoveling snow in areas requiring detailed attention to secure roads and sidewalks.
The district plans to mobilize all available personnel and resources, including resident volunteer snow removal teams from community centers and snow removal task forces, maintaining vigilance until the situation is resolved.
In preparation for heavy snowfall this winter, Dobong-gu secured budget through resident participation funds to install heating cables in nine steep and snow removal vulnerable areas, receiving great support from residents.
Additionally, the district operates a ‘smart’ snow removal system, including snow detection via the integrated CCTV control center, GPS installation on snow removal vehicles, and 27 remote liquid spraying devices for snow removal.
