Hyosung President Jo Hyun-sang Promoted to Vice Chairman... "Strengthening Responsible Management"
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Hyosung Group promoted General Manager Cho Hyun-sang to Vice Chairman on the 4th. This personnel move is interpreted as a proactive response to the crisis caused by changes in the business environment such as the prolonged 'COVID-19 pandemic' and the 4th Industrial Revolution, aimed at strengthening responsible management.
Hyosung announced on the 4th that it had carried out executive appointments at the head of division level, including the promotion of Cho Hyun-sang to the new Vice Chairman. Vice Chairman Cho was promoted to Group General Manager in January 2017 and has now been promoted again after about four years.
Vice Chairman Cho Hyun-sang worked as a consultant at Bain & Company Japan, a global consulting firm, and after participating in Hyosung's IMF restructuring project, he has worked for over 20 years in various management and operational roles such as Head of Strategy Headquarters and Head of Industrial Materials PG. He is recognized for contributing to growing Hyosung into a global company by assisting his father, Honorary Chairman Cho Seok-rae, and his older brother, Chairman Cho Hyun-joon.
In particular, he significantly contributed to Hyosung's continuous growth by elevating the industrial and automotive high value-added materials division, which he was in charge of, to the world's number one position. In recognition of these management achievements and capabilities, he was selected as a 'Young Global Leader (YGL)' by the World Economic Forum in 2007 and was also chosen as a next-generation leader by government agencies of Korea, China, and Japan.
Vice Chairman Cho, who has emphasized the importance of creating a 'warm and healthy value creation' society where neighbors in need and issues can be independently supported together, has served as the head of the Hyosung Sharing Volunteer Group since 2015. He has shown great interest in volunteer activities, personally visiting the developmental disability facility 'Yeongnak Ania's House' every year and participating in volunteer work as the first event with new employees.
