[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) Seokgwan-dong Community Service Center (Director Lee Dae-hyun) held the 'Seol Holiday Love Goods Sharing Ceremony' on the 1st, ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.
Due to the COVID-19 social distancing level 2.5, the event was held with only donors participating, without beneficiaries attending.
This sharing event was organized by the Seokgwan-dong Community Welfare Council (Chairman Jeon Sang-il), and the ceremony was conducted accordingly.
The Seokgwan-dong Neighborhood Association prepared 300kg of white rice, and the Welfare Subcommittee of the Seokgwan-dong Residents' Autonomy Committee donated 1000kg of rice. Additionally, donations of goods from local religious organizations continued. Sinsaeng Central Church, Seokgwang Church, Cheongmyeong Church, and Seokgwan Central Church each donated 250kg, 150kg, 300kg, and 1000kg of rice respectively, requesting that these be used to help neighbors in need before the Lunar New Year holiday.
Furthermore, Top Mart in Seokgwan-dong sponsored 100 boxes of ramen, and all employees of Jinro Food Material Mart also sponsored 100 boxes of ramen. The Korea National University of Arts donated 500 Onnuri gift certificates (worth 5 million KRW), practicing warm sharing.
Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, who attended the event, said, "When I come to Seokgwan-dong, my heart feels warm. Although it is the neighborhood with the most neighbors in need, I feel more reassured because there are many warm sponsors," and expressed gratitude to all sponsors who participated in practicing neighborly love.
Jeon Sang-il, Chairman of the Seokgwan-dong Community Welfare Council, who prepared this event, said, "I thank everyone who practiced warm neighborly love again this year following last year, and I will take the lead in discovering sponsors so that neighbors in need can spend a warm winter."
In response, Lee Dae-hyun, Director of Seokgwan-dong, said, "Even in difficult local economic conditions, local professional organizations and religious communities have taken the lead in spreading the culture of sharing. We will deliver goods evenly to neighbors in need in the community with the warm hearts of sponsors."
