Support of 30 Million KRW Worth of Winter Underwear and Daily Necessities
Funds Raised Through Voluntary Participation and Sharing by Citizens and Companies, Including Eco Mileage Donations
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Energy Welfare Citizen Fund announced on the 4th that they delivered heating supplies and daily necessities worth approximately 30 million won to elderly people living alone in energy-vulnerable groups who are experiencing even more difficult times due to COVID-19 and the cold wave, in celebration of the Lunar New Year holiday.
The support items consist of 200 sets of Hoho Kits, which include winter underwear and gloves for cold protection, and 200 sets of daily necessities. These will be delivered to elderly people living alone in the district through the Seongdong Senior Comprehensive Social Welfare Center.
This sharing was made possible through CMS sponsorships for energy-vulnerable groups, Eco Mileage donations collected by citizens saving energy, text donations to the Seoul Energy Welfare Citizen Fund, and online fundraising, supported by citizens and companies.
Kim Hyun-hoon, Chairman of the Seoul Energy Welfare Citizen Fund at the Seoul Metropolitan Council on Social Welfare, said, “We are grateful to the citizens who participated in donations with warm hearts for neighbors in need even during the difficult times of COVID-19,” and added, “We ask for continued interest in the Seoul Energy Welfare Citizen Fund so that we can continue to share warm hope energy with energy-vulnerable groups.”
Lee Dong-ryul, Director of the Environmental Policy Division of Seoul City, said, “Thanks to the participation and sharing of many citizens, we were able to deliver the warm affection of our society to elderly people living alone during the Lunar New Year holiday,” and added, “Seoul City will take the lead in discovering and supporting blind spots in energy welfare so that neighbors in need can spend the winter more healthily.”
